Cristina Nóbrega was born in Lisbon. She discovers the Fado at the age
of twenty when attending a concert that enchants her and marks her
artistic future.
Its Amalia's records that awaken the liking to interpret this language
that fascinates her by its simplicity.
Since she was a child that music is present in her life, she has
attended music and dance schools such as the Conservatório Nacional (
the National Conservatoire) and the Academia dos Amadores de Música (The
Academy of Music Amateurs ).
She covered several kinds of music but in Fado she finds the deepest
form of expression. After several years of studying for passion and of
incursions on several kinds of music, at the beginning of 2008, she
feels that she has to sing. This all happens in few months with the
presentation of a model to a publisher, which leads to the edition of
her first CD “Palavras do meu Fado” (Words of my Fado) (iPlay/2008).
This work includes classical Fados with poems of Vasco de Lima Couto,
Pedro Homem de Melo, David Mourão Ferreira, Ary dos Santos, Luís Vaz de
Camões, Linhares Barbosa and Luís de Macedo among athers and musics of
Alain Oulman, José Marques do Amaral, Joaquim Campos and Carlos
Gonçalves among others.
She interprets freely the poets and music that enchant her.
She makes her first public appearance in Madrid on the 14th of September
of 2008, led by the hand of the eminent scenographer and man of
culture, José Manuel Castanheira. To this project of friends belong:
Manuel Rodrigues, José Manuel Castanheira-scenographer, Inês de Oliveira
– stylist , Ricardo Reis – photographer and Master Real Bordeiro –
painter.
