But what remains – what matters – is the miracle of this music and these words attaching themselves to what we call soul, in a beautiful and irreversible way. That’s what the Jorge Fernando Trio brings. Beginning with the names. First, Jorge Fernando, musician, composer, poet and singer. One of the most performed authors on the portuguese contemporary music scene. Be it through a new generation of stars – Mariza, Ana Moura, Filipa Cardoso – or on the testimony that the fado legends have left us with: Fernando Maurício, king of fado, was his menthor and sung some of his greatest creations; Amália relied on him for his classical guitar playing for two decades and also performed some of his compositions. But now it’s time for Jorge Fernando to step to center stage. With him are two friends that represent perfectly the heritage and the change that keeps fado alive. Custódio Castelo is one of the leading contemporary masters of the portuguese guitar. And to that he adds a great talent as a composer. His way of playing and his arranging – that at times evoke classical music – is deeply original and starting to create descendants. Besides several projects under his own name (like the recent Encore Fado with Margarida Guerreiro), Custódio castelo was the person responsible for the musical affirmation of Cristina Branco, with whom he worked for a long time. He is one of the most requested musicians and composers on the international stage. Fábia Rebordão represents what is fresh but coming from tradition. Her extraordinary voice was first known through the talent searching TV Show Operação Triunfo, where she was a finalist. She experimented with musical forms that are only apparentely distant from fado, like the blues or gospel. But it was fado that allowed her to find herself, two years ago. But those who listen can be certain that fado was born with her. This is the trio that will offer you the richness of music and words, fados of anger and love that make our souls restless and make us all say “thank you”. |
