'Fadas' places Mafalda Arnauth on the track of a sound that expands the boundaries of fado, a reunion through the roots.
Having never been in question the brilliance of a career that now exceeds a dozen years at the highest level, the latest media agenda of Mafalda Arnauth experienced a slight slowdown. This process began to be reversed a year ago. In the project "Rua da Saudade", she met her first adventure outside Fado. And now, with 'Fadas' she signs the boldest of her six albums already released. The starting point to 'Fadas' occurred in St. George's Castle in a show where she performed a couple of themes popularized by other voices. With that idea in mind, went to the studio where she came to an end result where rich arrangements are the perfect combination with her gifted voice. The responsibility of Mafalda Arnauth is greater, not only because of the sacred spirit of some voices that left several of these popular melodies to the collective memory (Amalia Rodrigues, Beatriz da Conceição) but also by the recognition that some of them have in portuguese culture. "Pomba branca" or "Rosinha dos limões" (paired with "Portuguese Sailor") fits perfectly on a balanced repertoire on which there are obviously highlights: "E Se Não For Fado", with lyrics by Tiago Torres da Silva could be the picture of a period that some neo-singers are coming across. The overflow of the boundaries of fado. In this case, rediscovering the roots. |
