The five performers selected on this CD – António Menano, Paradela de Oliveira, Lucas Junot, António Batoque and Edmundo Bettencourt – are just a small sample when
compared to the high number of junior and senior artists who remained active in the “coimbrã sound galaxy” of the roaring twenties, with many of them also starring in records
phonographs that we consider of relevant interest for the constitution of a sound archive
Portuguese.
The recordings documented here were all recorded in the first decades of the 20th century, transcribed and remastered by one of the best technicians in the world, the Galician José Navia.
