Ercília, in that year, was already known nationally. Her numerous admirers gave her the nickname “The Saint of Fado”, due to her personal manner and her appearance on stage, as she always sang with her hands folded, as if making a prayer.
Ercília's career as a Fado singer at the Theater began in 1927 at Teatro da Trindade. There she sang in a duet with Alberto Reis.
The recordings documented here were all recorded in the first decades of the 20th century, transcribed and remastered by one of the best technicians in the world, the Galician José Navia.
